Job: Associate Pastor

Job Summary

Rapidly growing congregation of over 100 in King George, VA, is currently seeking Associate Pastor (Full Time) to lead worship, as well as Children and youth. We have primarily focused on reaching young families, through Gospel centered preaching, discipleship, and community involvement which has led to growth. 

Overview:

The Associate Pastor of Worship, Children & Youth will serve as a vital member of the ministry team, leading Christ-centered worship while also discipling and equipping the next generation through youth and children’s ministries. This role requires a shepherd’s heart with strong skills in music, leadership, and administration. Having a passion for helping young people grow in their faith and love for Jesus is essential to this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Worship Ministry

  • Provide vision, leadership, and direction for the worship ministry of the church.
  • Plan, organize, and lead weekly worship gatherings and other special events that are Spirit-led, biblically sound, and musically excellent.
  • Lead rehearsals, schedule team members, and prepare all elements for worship services.
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd musicians, vocalists, and audio/visual team members.
  • Incorporate a variety of musical styles to engage multiple generations.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to ensure worship services align with preaching themes and the overall mission of the church.
  • Mentor and develop emerging worship leaders and volunteers, especially within youth ministry.
  • Oversee worship ministry resources, budget, and equipment.

- Children & Youth Ministry 

  • Provide oversight, leadership, and vision for ministry to students and children.
  • Collaborate with volunteer ministry leaders to establish Christ-centered programming that engages youth and children in Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and service.
  • Recruit, equip, and encourage volunteer leaders for youth and children’s ministries.
  • Build relationships with students, children, and their families, providing encouragement and spiritual guidance.
  • Plan and participate in special events and intentional outreach (retreats, camps, Hi-Power Soccer/VBS, family worship services, mission projects, etc.).
  • Partner with parents to support them as the primary disciple-makers in their homes.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for children and youth.
  • Advocate for children and youth resources.

General Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Model Christlike character and uphold the mission, vision, and values of the church as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • Assist in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, weddings, funerals, and other pastoral duties as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, prayer gatherings, and church-wide activities.

Qualifications

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing, Spirit-led walk with Him.
  • Demonstrated gifting and experience in leading worship vocally and instrumentally.
  • Passion and aptitude for discipling and mentoring the next generation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.
  • Experience leading worship ministry and student/children ministry preferred.
  • Calling to a pastoral ministry, having obtained or in pursuit of a seminary degree.
  • Agreement with the church’s doctrinal statement, mission, and vision.
  • Ability to prepare service visuals for Worship
  • Soundboard experience is preferred
